Check out the article on the new band Bison in the latest issue of the Voice!
Did you know there was a new up and coming band that is all homeschoolers playing the alternative scene in Hampton Roads and Harrisonburg?
That’s right, three homeschool graduates; three homeschooled high schoolers and a homeschool dad have put together a folk alternative band called Bison.
They have a unique sound that has been described as “folkestral” with instruments including guitar, banjo, mandolin, pump organ, violin and cello along with a variety of percussion. They play all original songs written by the band leader, Ben Hardesty of Chesapeake.
Bison recently played to an audience of over 500 people at the Norva Theater in Norfolk and have about 800 fans on Facebook. Their 11 song CD “Quill” is being released this month.
If you are in Hampton Roads you can check out one of their release shows on September 24th at an historic school house in Chesapeake, Gerties Show. You can also catch them on September 28th at the Chrysler Museum of Art .
Look for them on Facebook, become their fan, listen to some of their music on their Band Page or express interest in a CD or digital download of “Quill”. The information will be posted there as soon as it is available!
If you know anyone interested in booking them, you can call Ben (757-619-9823) or email him firstname.lastname@example.org.
