Give a Little, Get a Lot—Volunteer!

The conference is put together by a team of volunteers, all busy homeschool parents like you, and we can’t do it alone. We need teen and adult volunteers on Friday and Saturday to help with all manner of tasks, including conference setup and tear-down, working the registration desk and Used Resource Sale, and assisting our wonderful vendors.

Teen Volunteers—Get Free Admission and a Pizza Party

This is an especially great opportunity for teens. Teen volunteers must be 13 or older and come ready to work. As a heartfelt thank-you to all our teen volunteers, we offer them free registration, as well as food and fun. Teen volunteers gather on Friday night from 4–6 p.m. for a private pizza party with food, music, games and the chance to mingle with other homeschooled teens from throughout the state. They also have access to the Volunteer Hospitality Room on the day of the conference (good eats!), and we’re happy to provide certification of service hours and/or letters of reference (these look great on college and job applications).

Adult Volunteers—Make Your Own Schedule

We know you’re coming to the conference for the great sessions, so we’ll work around your needs as an attendee. A typical shift is two hours; work one or several. We particularly need help on Friday setting up the Used Resource Sale and on Saturday morning with registration, but there are plenty of volunteer opportunities throughout the conference.

As a volunteer, you receive access to the Volunteer Hospitality Room on Saturday. The Volunteer Hospitality Room is stocked with yummy snacks and drinks throughout the day and with lunch at midday.

Volunteering’s a Cinch

Are you ready to volunteer? Go to Conference Volunteer Application and fill out a volunteer form or send an email to our Conference Volunteer Coordinator and put Conference in the subject line.

Ways to Support the Conference

Even if you can’t volunteer your time, there are other great ways to help make sure that this year’s VaHomeschoolers Conference is a success.

Be a Sponsor or Make an In-Kind Donation

Sponsors make a donation to support a specific area of the conference. You can choose from Family Programming, Talent Show and Ice Cream Social, or Volunteer Appreciation. We also have a need for specific types of in-kind gifts. Please contact VaHomeschoolers for more details on either kind of donation.

Support the Used Resource Sale

Our Used Resource Sale is dependent on donations, so take this opportunity to de-clutter your house! We’re looking for curricula, books, videos, games, manipulatives, CDs and anything else you’ve found useful in your homeschool but are now ready to part with. Please contact UsedResourceSale.

Donate Your Box Tops and Ink Cartridges

VaHomeschoolers collects box tops and used printer ink cartridges. Bring these to the conference and drop them off at the VaHomeschoolers table. (Please do not mail them.)
