VaHomeschoolers has compiled a list of providers who offer testing services to the homeschool community. Which test you decide to use will depend on your goals for the testing. Do you just want to test to satisfy the state’s requirements? Do you want to test to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your child?
If you have questions about what test to use, it is best to consult experienced local homeschoolers. They can give you information on the different tests so that you can choose one that meets your needs. See Virginia Homeschool Groups for a list of statewide and local support groups.
If you know of or have used a test provider/service that is not listed, please contact the VaHomeschoolers Web Administrator.

Tests: NEW: Stanford 10 ONLINE (grades 3-12 and the parent/teacher does not need to have a bachelor’s degree) We administer this test from our computers to your home computer. It is untimed, but your student is expected to work productively. With the College Board moving to online testing in 2016, online testing is here! (normed in 2007) We also have two forms of the TerraNova (CTBS/CAT/6), Forms A and C (both use the same norms in 2005). We also have the Iowa Tests (normed in 2005), and the Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI) –grades 3-12, plus other testing services. The only test requiring that the administrator have a bachelor’s degree is the Iowa test. We have our own scoring equipment, so scoring is guaranteed within 3 weeks, but we usually turn around our grading in less than a week. Overnight scoring can be ordered as well.
