Contacting Your State Representatives

The Virginia General Assembly offers an online guide for citizens describing how they can participate in the legislative process. The Virginia General Assembly Citizen’s Guide includes information on how to find out the name of your Senator or Delegate and how to reach your legislators via phone, email and U.S. postal mail.

If the issue you wish to bring to your legislator’s attention is not time-sensitive, you may wish to make contact via mail or email. If timeliness is a concern, such as an upcoming vote on a bill, you may wish to express your opinion via telephone.

Another alternative is to call the General Assembly switchboard at 804-698-1500 and ask to be connected with your legislator by name.
