Home Educators’ Day is an annual event that welcomes the homeschool community and offers special activities throughout Monticello’s Visitor Center and historic grounds. We strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as this is a popular event with limited capacity.
On this day, students of all ages can explore a variety of Jeffersonian topics at indoor and outdoor hands-on activity stations, take a special walk-though tour of the first floor of the main house, roll hoops and play games on the West Lawn, hike miles of outdoor trails, learn about ongoing research and new discoveries from Monticello’s archaeologists, and more.
Cost– $16 (in advance) $21 (day of) per adult, $10 per child, free for children under five.
Advance Registration Required for this Event

Join us for our Annual Days of Living History for homeschooled students. The program is geared for children ages 8 to 10 years old, although children younger and older benefit from the hands-on experience of 18th century life. Programs rotate among spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, pottery, Colonial medicine, basket making, tin punching, and rope making. Groups may register by providing the number and ages of children, as well as the number of adults in attendance.
Home Educator groups are welcome, but please have one person responsible for registering the group!
Children’s author Jenny L. Cote will also be here for a creative writing workshop both days! There is no extra charge for this amazing experience.
